“The admiral’s banquet ” chapter four(5)

” captains log, the crew of the enterprise is in peril. It seams that myself and commander sotril as well as other key commanders have been lured to an admiral’s banquet. The goal is unknown. All of the evidence indicates a nefarious purpose. ” Addison said in her log.
“At the same time the enterprise was lured away by the u.s.s Augustine. The captain and first officer warning of a bizare plot. Is it too late to oppose this threat effectively?” Addison said.
U.s.s enterprise
Transporter room.
“We do not know if star base residents are replacements or under some kind of mind control or psycosis if other kind of insanity. They could be some kind of replicants. We just don’t know. It is a threat. ” captain rex Larson said.
“What is your plan Captain?” lt. Dasale asked. “I wish to mobilize a fleet near hear. Then try to retake the station or destroy it if we have to. ” Larson said.
Those were very sobering words. They all knew what that ment. They knew how serious this was. They knew that they might not have any other choice.
“I see. More ships are on there way. We are going to mobilize as soon as we can get overwhelming numbers. I am going to transfer my flag hear. Em I want you to command the Augustine in my absence. ” Larson said.
“I yield command to you captain. ” Larson!” Dasale said. ” let’s get moving . we have a lot of work to do. ” he said.
Star base 47
” I have scanned some random guests. They seam to be infected with some kind of toxin. A kind of food poisoning. There are various levels of infection. It is casing moderate to savere brain damage. ” Dr. Piper said.
“Are the affects irreversible?” Addison asked. “It is too early to tell. I am not sure. ” Dr. Piper said. “I see. You better get out of hear. Be carefull Mark!” Addison ordered.”Will do. You do the same addy. ” piper said.
The doctor then dispersed. The medical officer from the enterprise walked out if the dining area. Addison found sotril.
“The omeron syistom has been determined to be mostly desolate. Either this is evidence of the admirals insanity or whatever is behind this is biased there. ” sotril said .
“Mark confirmed that the admirals and there staf are infected with food poisoning. It seams to have infected there brain. ” Addison said.”are we assuming that they could be perpetrators not victims?” the Vulcan said .”for now. Until we can get control of the station. The good news is the enterprise is free. They were called away on a distress call. They may be our only hope .” Addison said.
Admiral Nordstrom came over to them. ” Addison ,tivora why the long faces? ” the admiral asked. “Admiral lakefeld is dead. ” Addison said. “Yes I know .I am saddened but life must go on. We have much to do. ” he said.
“Why the omeron syistom? Every survey by probes revealed nothing of interest. Yet you want to make it a top priority? ” Addison said .
“It holds answers to question we never thought to ask. It is where we must go!” Nordstrom said.
“You speak with a sense of urgency?” the Vulcan asked. “There is. We believe that if we don’t go there, other races will. We have to go there first. ” Nordstrom said .
” captain commander you have not eaten anything . you must be famished. Please eat. ” admiral candez said.
“I am too upset to eat admiral. “Addison said. “Admiral lakefeld is no big loss captain. He was a fool. He gave no real significant contribution to the fleet. His rank of admiral was because we could not find an excuse to have him relieved.it is no big loss. ” admiral komack said.
“How can you say that sir? He was your friend?” Addison said. “Friends come and go. The universe is all that matters. ” kandez said. ” now I must incist you eat. You have to stay healthy. Your a starship captain as well as a wife and mother. You need to stay strong. ” Nordstrom said.
Addison had no idea what to do. She could not take a single bite or a single sip. Either could be deadly. It might tip the hand of those who are involved in all this.
She picked up a plate and put food on it. Commodore Robert Wesley came over to her. “Addison! ” Wesley said. “Hello Bob. ” she said.
” something is up Bob. ” she told him.”I know. The enterprise is safe. ” he said. “As far as I know. ” Addison said.
“Good. I wish I could say the same for the Lexington. I am assuming that the entire station command staff is compromised. Perhaps all the way to the station janitorial personelle. ” the Commodore said.”agreed. ” she said.
Several of the staff we’re watching. “Quick Bob pull out a picture of Jules and Katie. ” Addison said. The comadore pulled out a smal device. The federation is a cash less society. Wallets had dissapered . many caried a smal device that resembled a wallet. It stored pictures.
“Katie just turned ten.” Bob said. “She is bearufull Bob. ” Addison said. “She is growing up fast. Seams like yesterday she was born.”he said. “They are jumpy ,” Addison said. “I noticed. We are going to need to move fast. ” Bob said. “Mark is on it. We need to warn captain finegin and the New arrivals.” she said. “Agreed. ” he said.
After a while they dissipated. They mingled. Addison suspected that some knew what they were doing. Not all of the admiral were simply going insane. She had no idea who was who.
Dr .piper went to the restaurant.” lizzy. I need your help. Are you going to spend the rest of your life having a pity party or will you serve the federation again?” piper said
“Ok Mark what do you need?” she asked. “There seams to be some kind of hostile take over of the admirals. They are doing it though food poisoning . we have to retake the station. I think whoever is doing this is doing it though overwhelm and devastate. We have to do the same. I assume you know this facility like the back of your hand. ” Dr. Piper said.
“Ok. Let me do my job. Go ! I will do the rest. ” she said . “thank you.” Dr. Piper said .

“The food processing units were designed to release the food poisoning. ” pitcarin said. “Have we deternine what the virus is ? ” captain Larson asked. ” it is a nerve toxin. It is designed to deminish brain fiction such as higher reasoning. “Security chief giotto said .
“Someone is behind this. ” Larson said. “Yes. ” Dr. Piper said. “We don’t have a lot if time. If this is a prelude to an invasion. We don’t have much time. ” he said.
“Captains log, acting enterprise co rex Larson reporting. The fleet is asambling. I have ordered a quarantine in star base 47 until the station can be secured. Soon the fleet will move out.” he said in his log.
Star base 47
“I have spoken to styles and finegin I have there support. ” sotril said. “Ok. I hope Dr. Piper can get help on the outside. Hopfully the enterprise crew has connected the dots. We might have a chance.” Addison said. ” I cannot believe something like this will end the missions of the enterprise under captain Addison mccomic Harrington. ” the Vulcan said
“Are you getting sentimental commander? ” Addison asked. “Of course not. The enterprise has accomplished much. I am simply bringing that fact up. “The female Vulcan said . “very well !” she said.
Several admiral went up to them .”captain it is time to eat!” Nordstrom said. “I am not Hungary!” she said. “I must incist !” Nordstrom said. “I am not Hungary. With all due respect please a low me to chart my own course.” Addison said.
“This is for your own good.you cannot neglect your health. ” kandez said. Addison knew what they weree up to. She knew that they would not relent. She had to think fast.

“The fleet is in place!” Palmer said. “Move us out!” Larson ordered. The fleet moved out. The fleet headed for the base.

Captain mccomic was given a tour of the ship. She was completely impresed with this ship. It was all that she hoped it would be.
They came to engineering.  “Chief enginer pitcarn! I am so glad you agried to stay on ! “She said. “I was in charge of the refit. I wanted to make sure it is kept in one peace! ” pitcarn said. “He does not trust us!”enginer kyile said. “I am sure it is not personal !”mccomic said. The younger enginer laughed.
“Will we be able to lunch on time?” She asked. “I don’t see any reason why we would not. Every thing is falling into place. “Pitcarn said.
“I am glad to hear that! Your are living up to your reputation!”mccomic said. “Did you have any doubts? ” kyile asked. “No !”she said. She left the engineering crew.
Bridge
The turbo lift opened,admiral komack,comadore Wesley and captain mccomic entered the bridge. “Captain on the bridge !” An officer said.
She looked over the bridge. This was about to be hers. She almost did not believe it. She had familerized herself with the ship. Reading about it was one thing,seing it was quite another.
“I understand our first mison is to sector x104?” The helmsman said. “the area has never been charted by star fleet mr. Dashale. So it could be boring or masivley exciting or anything in between !” She said.
“Very true. I have learned that from my time as a comanding officer!”Wesley said.
  At the archives ,Alison closly looked over the biography of captain mccomic. She saw something that interested her. Mccomic had two children. A boy and a newborn girl.
Alison had wanted to be maried and have kids. Her time on the freighter was a temporary one.she wanted to settle down. Adison had not been like that.she had no real plans. Now suddenly every thing had gone upside down. She would not take it siting down.
“Well it is time for me to meat my godchildren!” Alison said. It would not be a happy reunion.
Bridge
“Is all of the senior staff abored?”addy asked. “The first officer is on the serface but is on her way back. Every one else is onbored!” Ships psychatrist Elizabeth daner said.
“Good. When my family comes abord! Could you let me know?”she asked . “Of course!”danner said. ” i was not informed of civilians going to be permerment residents !”security chief gioto comented.
“My two children aged 2 and two mounths will be abored for the jouney! Is that a problem commander?” She asked.
“No i just wished i had been told ahead of time. Is there anything else i should know?”he asked. “Not that i am aware of!”she said. This was not encourging.
“Your maried and have kids. I did not think carer officers had family ?”yeoman smith asked. “I have never believed you have to sacrifice one for the orther! “Adison said.

There was a knock at the door. Elane came to the door. It eas Alison. She wore a scarf to hide the masive plasma scar. “Hello ! I am a friend of adison. “Alison said.
“She is over on the enterprise. We are going to go over soon!”wiliam said. “You must be proud of addy! A wife,a mother,starship captain. She has done it all”Alison said.
“We very much are. When we first adopted her,we had a sense she was special ! “Elane said. “When i first met her,her life was off tract. She has turned it around !”Alison said.
“We knew that she would ! We knew her potential . We are glad that she turned it around !”elane said.
“Its funy in a way she is living the story that was suposed to be myine. I was the one with asperations. It did not work out that way! ” Alison said.
“How did you know addy?”wiliam asked. “We served on the freighter southwestern. We were best friends. “She said
“The destruction was the tipping point. She really changed after that. She took it as a sign. She is not the same person ! It was that tragidy that did it” elane said.
She saw the children. ” They are so sweet! They look like addy. I wanted children !”she said. “Your young. It not too late!”wiliam said. ” No one will mary me !”she said angrily. She pulled off her scar. They were agasped. “I will never be maried. Never be successful . Never happy! All i will have us regret! It is all because of adison. She is what she is at my exspense. I have never forgoten or forgiven !” She said.
The two were woried now. They were very uncomfortable by this.they senced something was teribly wrong. They were in danger. They were not sure what to do.
